Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the Week

Did anyone say “kittens?” Well, we’ve got them at the Bullock County Humane Society, now ready for adoption! As we’re currently running our fall special for spay and neuter in partnership with Tuskegee University, we’re well on our way to having ALL of our in house kitties fully vaccinated, with rabies and having been spayed/neutered. This group of four lovely babies (Magnus, Maximillian, Mongoose, and Morweena) are just a few that are ready for adoption today!

Bullock County Historical Society quarterly meeting

The Bullock County Historical Society (BCHS) held its quarterly meeting October 8, at the Union Springs Presbyterian Church. President Dean Spratlan conducted the meeting asking for reports on the Log Cabin restoration and Pauly Jail. Historical Society is still seeking donations for the Log Cabin restoration that can be mailed to P O Box 563, Union Springs, Alabama 36089.

Chilly’s ICE Cool Band Wins Second Place in Competition

Chilly’s ICE Cool Band attended the October 21, 2023 Marching Band Competition that was held at Alabama State University. The small community band was the only one of its kind who participated and they went home with the Second Place Trophy! Congratulations!

Pep Rally for Jesus held

Bullock County Head Football Coach Jeremy Vines had his football players attend a Pep Rally for Jesus at Thornton-Foster Stadium sponsored by Jenks Parker and the Parker Foundation. The event featured Christian Recording Artist Vance Watt from St. Louis, Missouri and Coach Willie Spears.

Bullock County Representatives were present for the ASU Alumni Homecoming Takeover

John McGowan, President of the Nat King Cole Society located in Montgomery, AL, is an ASU Alumni and represented the Nat King Cole Society at the Homecoming Takeover and Book Fair. Also representing Bullock County was Kala Dennis with her Travel with KD table to promote her business. Sontissa Hurt Nolen of Midway, AL was also present and promoting her Tiss Valley Winery and Vineyard located in Midway, AL which is a part of Bullock County.

Homecoming Parade brings hundred of Alumni back to Bullock County

Despite the gloomy wet weather, all of Bullock County was in attendance for the Bullock County High School Homecoming Parade on Friday afternoon, October 13, 2023.

Homecoming is the quintessential peak of the football season for all high schoolers. In Bullock County students celebrate alongside alumnus from years past.

Chilly’s ICE Cool Band participates in Marching Band Competition

On Saturday October 21 the only Band at the Marching Band Competition at Alabama State University will be Bullock County’s very own ICE Cool Band, under the Direction of Mr. Stan “Chilly” Cooks. ICE Cool Band is a FREE After school music program for ages 6-18. Come out and support this scrappy little band as they represent Union Springs, Saturday October 21 at ASU Stadium. They are in the Class A list and the first to play. They warm up at 10 a.m. and play at 10:30 a.m. “They see the Glory, but they do know the Story!” (Photo submitted)
