Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day

Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day, celebrating the end of World War I. The occasion was the signing of the Armistice between the Allies and Germany, at 11:00 a.m., November 11, 1918. The annual holiday was celebrated in honor of the Veterans of World War I, known as the war, to end all wars. Following World War II, service Veterans from that war and the Korean Conflict were included in the Armistice Day Celebration.

The Board of Registrars mails Voter Information Cards

The Board of Registrars is in the process of mailing 2,307 State of Alabama Voter Information Cards to all registered voters in Precinct Eight (8) which is within the City Limits of Union Springs regarding the voting place location for all County, State and Federal Elections.  All registered voters within Precinct Eight will be voting at the Bullock County Career Tech Center at 304 Blackmon Avenue.  The Primary Election will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Veterans Day Ceremony to be held

The 29th Annual Bullock County Veterans Day Ceremony will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Richard B. Stone Complex. American Legion Post #2016 and Bell Cook Hopson Unit #337 American Legion Auxiliary and the planning committee have worked hard to “HONOR THOSE WHO SERVED.”
