Union Springs Elementary School holds Holiday Program for parents

Union Springs Elementary School held their Holiday Program on Friday, December 15, 2023 just before their Christmas break. This year’s program was held in the school’s cafeteria/ auditorium and aired a live-stream on the school’s Facebook Page for those parents that could not attend. The program was emceed by Mrs. Tara Marlow. The James Rutherford Flag Patrol posted the colors and stood saluting the flag as the Pledge of Allegiance was said. The occasion was given by Miss Gracelyn Hollingsworth.

Chilly’s 2nd Annual Christmas Lights Parade was a success

The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without a Christmas Parade. Chilly’s 2nd Annual Christmas Lights Parade took place in downtown Union Springs on the evening of December 14, 2023.

RDT’s Sanders Family Christmas

The Red Door Theatre appropriately closed its 20th Year with a family production, Sanders Family Christmas. Written by Connie Ray, conceived by Alan Baily with musical arrangements by John Foley and Gary Fagin and presented with special arrangement with Concord Theatricals, the show had more than two dozen Christmas carols, many of them vintage hymns which kept the audience laughing, clapping and singing along.

Extension held Retirement Party for Mr. Willie Williams

With over thirty years in his field. Bullock County Extension and 4-H Agent, Willie Williams, celebrated his retirement with a party thrown by over thirty of his colleagues. The celebration of his career took place on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Extension Office in Bullock County at the Richard B. Stone Complex.

New Direction Child Care Facility Blessed by Good Samaritan

On Friday, December 15, 2023, New Direction Child Care Facility’s children were blessed by a Good Samaritan, Mrs. Narshiki Rogers. She graced the children with her presence and gifted each child something. “We would like to take this time to thank Mrs. Rogers for being a blessing to the New Direction Child Care Facility Family! Happy Holidays from our family to yours,” stated Brenda Hill, owner.

Twentieth Century Book Club held December meeting

The Twentieth Century Book Club met on Tuesday, Dec 12, 2023 at the home of Kate Smoker. Members brought a favorite children’s book to discuss. The books were given to the Bullock County Department of Human Resources to be gifted to local children. Margaret celebrates 75th Birthday

In a heartwarming celebration of a life well-lived, Margaret McGowan Jernigan's 75th birthday at the Ponderosa Inn became a joyous gathering of family and friends. The venue was abuzz with laughter and love as all of Margaret's children, grandchildren, and even her great-granddaughter joined in the festivities. The guest list extended to include her mom, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of cherished family and friends.
