Sunday, December 23, 2023(123123), I was making sure that the bus was in working order. It started up immediately, but by the time I made it to the back, it had shut off. The Lord told me to call Nelson Mason to check it out, but it’s New Year’s Eve, I called and he came, it started but he wouldn’t take any pay. Amen. All’s well for Monday’s parade.
The story of the southern tradition of eating black-eyed peas as the first meal on New Year's Day is generally believed to date back to the winter of 1864 - 1865.
When Union General William T. Sherman led his invading troops on their destructive march through Georgia, the fields of black-eyed peas were largely left untouched because they were deemed fit only for animals.
The Union foragers took everything, plundered the land, and left what they could not take, burning or in shambles.

“Love is what love does,” is the best quote for this special organization. This is the fourth year that Reverend Michael and his wife Thawaina King, along with One-Love Ministries through Great Hope United in Christ Church, has had a Turkey Giveaway.
Reverend King’s dream was to bring everyone together in unity no matter what walks of life they come from. He wants to give back to the community and feels the best way is to help feed them.
