A Fire Alert remains in effect across the state. The Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) issued the burn restriction on September 22 because of the current drought situation, continued lack of precipitation, and high probability of fuel ignition. Since October is historically the state's driest month, drought conditions are expected to worsen.

The Bullock County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing elderly person, Eddie Lee Thomas, 77 of Midway, Alabama, located in Bullock County.
Thomas was last seen in the afternoon on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in Spring Hill, Alabama, located approximately 17.2 miles from Eufaula. Investigators say Thomas is described as a black male who stands around 5’10” and weighs approximately 220 lbs. Thomas was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red checkered shirt with a beige undershirt.

Bullock County Schools are off to a great start this school year. Administration changes for all schools as well as a new Superintendent was just what the school district needed in order to grow both educationally and academically.

On the First Friday of the month of October Bullock County traveled the road of Highway 29 to face arch rival Booker T. Washington (Tuskegee). The Hornets were looking forward to getting a huge win against a team that beat them in the past two seasons. On paper both teams were evenly matched with each of them coming off a win (B.C. defeated Red Level 46-12 and BTW won over Slocomb 43-6) and were looking for their fourth victory.

Adams Angus Farm, Union Springs, AL ranked as fifth largest in registering the most Angus beef cattle in Alabama with the American Angus Association® during fiscal year 2023, which ended Sept. 30, according to Mark McCully, Association chief executive officer.
