How Hiring - Five reasons young people don’t go to church

This past weekend was Easter Sunday. I saw several posts on social media celebrating the Resurrection. If you scrolled through my timeline, you would think everyone went to church on Easter and most Sundays.

When I was a little boy, I don't know if I knew anyone who did not go to church. I was born and raised in the South, where attending church was a weekly tradition.

The Beacon Church comes to Bullock County

Led by Pastor LaToya Jackson, The Beacon Church is located at 104 Conecuh Avenue, Union Springs next to the Tourism Council building. Pastor LaToya invites all citizens of Union Springs and Bullock County to come out on Wednesday, April 12 and again on Wednesday, April 19 beginning at 6 p.m. to learn more about The Beacon Church. All ages are encouraged to come.

First Baptist Church holds Yard Sale to benefit Relay for Life

The First Baptist Church on Prairie Street in downtown Union Springs held a yard sale on Friday, April 7, 2023 which started at 8 a.m. All proceeds from this yard sale will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Alabama doctors praise FDA for making Narcan available without a prescription

Alabama physicians are commending the Food and Drug Administration’s decision today to allow a nasal spray version of Narcan to be available as over-the-counter medication.

“Making Narcan available without prescription is an essential step to save lives from fentanyl and other opioid-related overdoses,” said Dr. Julia Boothe, President of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. “We encourage all Alabamians to learn how to recognize, prevent and respond to an opioid overdose by using Narcan.”

USDA Forest Service announces opening of 2023 recreation season in Alabama’s national forests

The USDA Forest Service is announcing the opening of the 2023 recreation season throughout Alabama’s four national forests - Bankhead, Conecuh, Talladega, and Tuskegee. There is an assortment of recreational activities for outdoor enthusiasts, and the Forest Service is asking the public to plan their trip to have the best outdoor experience.
